Mission
Disability Services is a campus-wide resource that informs, implements and researches best practices in order create an accessible and enriched education experience for students with disabilities. We do this by constantly striving to remove informational, environmental, cultural and attitudinal barriers to the rich educational experience that Young Harris College has to offer.
Values
Young Harris College values a diverse student body, and students with disabilities are one of the many groups that make up our campus community. Disability Services at YHC works individually with students and more broadly with the campus community to establish an accessible and universally designed campus experience.
Goals
- Empower students with disabilities to self-advocate for needed accommodations and campus access
- Collaborate with campus partners to educate on disability-related needs and to remove physical, programmatic, informational and attitudinal barriers to students who have disabilities
- Serve the campus community as a resource on disability-related issues
