Why accreditation is important to Young Harris College

Thank you for your interest in Young Harris College’s institutional accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

A SACSCOC institution since 1938, Young Harris College most recently earned reaffirmation of its accreditation by SACSCOC in 2011.

SACSCOC accreditation is fundamental and signifies that Young Harris College “(1) has a mission appropriate to higher education, (2) has resources, programs, and services sufficient to accomplish and sustain that mission, and (3) maintains clearly specified educational objectives that are consistent with its mission and appropriate to the degrees it offers, and that indicate whether it is successful in achieving its stated objectives.” (Principles of Accreditation: Foundation for Quality Enhancement, 2012 Edition)

SACSCOC accreditation provides the gold-standard, in our view, in our efforts to offer our students a top-quality college education, and it also assures that our students can access federal loan and grant programs and graduate school opportunities around the world.

We encourage you to become familiar with and keep abreast of Young Harris College’s institutional accreditation and SACSCOC standards through the important information provided through this webpage.
