DEPARTMENTAL AFFILIATIONS

National Communication Association (NCA): NCA is the largest national organization dedicated to communication. Researchers, educators and professionals work to understand and better all forms of human communication. Through publications, resources, conferences, conventions and services, NCA contributes to the greater good of education and society.
Georgia College Press Association (GCPA): GCPA is an organization dedicated to assisting in the betterment of Georgia collegiate journalism and providing a reciprocal flow of information between its member colleges. Membership to GCPA is an excellent opportunity for print journalism students to discuss common issues of college newspapers and to network with newspaper professionals.
Appalachian Studies Association (ASA): ASA was formed in 1977 by a group of scholars, teachers and regional activists who believed that shared community has been and will continue to be important to those writing, researching and teaching about Appalachia.

American Society for the History of Rhetoric (ASHR): ASHR’s purpose is to foster the study of rhetoric in all historical periods in American as well as other cultures.
Broadcast Education Association (BEA): BEA is the professional association for professors, industry professionals and graduate students who are interested in teaching and research related to electronic media and multimedia enterprises.
International Communication Association (ICA): The International Communication Association aims to advance the scholarly study of human communication by encouraging and facilitating excellence in academic research worldwide.
Southern States Communication Association (SSCA): SSCA’s purpose is to promote the study, criticism, research, teaching and application of the artistic, humanistic and scientific principles of communication. SSCA, a not-for-profit organization, exists for educational, scientific and literary purposes only.
Student Press Law Center (SPLC): SPLC is an advocate for student free-press rights and provides information, advice and legal assistance at no charge to students and the educators who work with them.
